Hi,
If I have a single FAS 2750, having SSD and SAS drives. can I use fabricpool to autotier data between the SSD and SAS drives?
and is it true that I have a 10TB Fabricpool license with the FAS series?

I am receiving a warning message in "Active IQ", shown as attached, and only on one of 4 nodes in the cluster
What should be the right management LIF and it's GW for SVM's and look missed here?
I already have a "admin" LIF created for each SVM, and with the role type of "data". Dont know what other role types should I have here? Also, there is already a gateway configured for this LIF as shown in "route show..".
How to migrate WORM data from the third-party storage to Netapp?
When the file on the third-party storage has expired, how to ensure that the file is still expired after migration. The SnapLock autocommit feature will commit files to WORM automatically after migration.
When the file is locked on the third-party storage,How to ensure the retention time of the file is consistent with the source file.
Hi,
In our company environment we have a 6 nodes cdot cluster (9.1) located in a given server room:
2 x FAS8200
2 x AFF300
2 x FAS8020
For redundancy purposes we're reshaping the server room splitting the nodes between 2 separate and independent rooms with connectivity for the cdot cluster. The cluster switches we be in room 2.
2 x FAS8200 (room 1)
2 x AFF300 (room 2)
2 x FAS8020 (room 2)
If connectivity issues arise between rooms will the 2 x FAS8200 nodes continue to serve data locally (fibre channel LUNs only)?
Thanks!
Hello All,
Quick question. How do you clone a Volume from a Snapshot?
I know the command for cloning a LUN from a snapshot but is there not a way to clone an entire Volume by using a Snapshot.
The problem that throws me off is the "LUN" part, since I'm not trying to create a clone of a LUN. I want a clone of the entire Volume by way of using a Snapshot.
Can this be done?
volume snapshot create -vserver vs1 -volume vol1 -snapshot vol1_snapshot
file clone create -vserver vs1 -volume vol1 -source-path lun1 -snapshot-name vol1_snapshot -destination-path lun1_snap_clone
Hi All
Does anyone know what logic is used by the snapmirror process to work out what intercluster links are used for a snapmirror process?
Does it uses the ones on the node that's the owner of the aggr containing source / target volume?
Hello,
We are on cdot 9.3 and are looking to possibly convert some of our SnapMirror jobs to Mirror + Vault jobs. Can they be easily converted? Just to clarify, I'm not referring to converting DP to XDP. These jobs are already XDP. I'm talking about taking XDP SnapMirror jobs and converting them to Mirror + Vault. Only purpose would be to possibly archive some of the snapshots longer than we currently do. I would still want to be able to activate the destination volumes in a disaster. Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi,
We are trying to migrate one volume (NFS) from 8.2.5P1 (7mode) to CDOT 9.3P2 with snapmirror.
We created a snapmirror, once its mirrored we did an upgrade and then quiece/brake and mounted the destination volume (from cdot). But when we try to launch an application from the newly migrated volume its behaves differently. What I mean behave differently means, its rhel 6 GUI based app. But the font style and application appearance changes completely and it keeps on asking for Database password to connect to database.
Whereas, just to check, we also snapmirrored same source volume from 8.2.5P1 (7mode) to another controller 8.2.5P1 and update+quiesce+break it. And this new 7mode destination volume launches the same application like it source volume does, without even asking for Database password.
What could be wrong in both snapmirrors here ?
Hi Guys, i am trying to create a filter which gives me Only Aggregates of an HA pair. In My workflow I select a Aggr where root vol will be created and i need an its HA Partner Aggr where i can create a load share mirror volume.
Could you please help.

Hi All,
We have new controllers in 9.5 (call them cluster A) , with volume snapvaulted on controllers in 9.4 (callt hem cluster B)
We are using Unified Manager in 7.3P1 to restore data. The problem we have is that, when trying to restore datas from the snapvaulted location - cluster B, we are unable to restore them to original location on cluster A, because options is greyed (please see below) So we have to restore to an alternate location. Not that if we want to restore datas from snapshots of cluster A, we can restore to the original location.
Before, in 7 mode with the Old Netapp management console, it was possible. Is this a feature that disappeared ? I cannot find a note in the ocum documentation about this.
Thans for your help,
In OCUM 9.5, if you click "Performance" --> LIF's, there are no Latency and IOPS shown on all LIF's of SVM's. There is only MB/s graph.
Why? is that normal with OCUM?
Thanks for your inputs!
Hello All,
Quick question. I have a FAS8200 series storage array that is in the process of being setup without professional services. I have configured ports e0a and e0b on both controlletrs and they are up, as you can see below.
Now when I connect the 40Gbe breakoput cable to my Cisco switch, I get no activity and only an orange light on the switch.
The ports on the array are green but no activity. Is there some trick to getting the interconnect ports to show some activity or is there something simple I'm missing?
Keep in my I have not ran the cluster wizards etup yet, so of coure no LIF has been configured.
All of the ports aon the interconnect are configured the exact same (as they are for our working cluster) and there is no difference.
Any thoughts/suggestions etc????

Did any one setup FreeIPA (RedHat) as LDAP for netapp?
Hello,
Actually with the Ontap shell client you can set or display a volume's comment.
volume show -volume XYZ
And you get a list of properties and one of those is a "Comment".
How can you display (or set) a volume comment with the "powershell ontap toolkit 9.6"?
At my knowledge there is no such property in the get-ncvol & set-ncvol CMDLET.
Is it even possible to use that property with the toolkit?
Thank you for your help!
Kind regards,
Didier
Hi,
I am considering implementing MetroCluster across a distance of about 1000km with 15ms latency.
I see within the documentation that less than 700km in distance and less than 10ms of latency are required for MetroCluster. I am wondering is there is still any way to implement this without with my above constraints?
Thanks!
Hi,
we have a problem with one of our filers. It is a two node cluster with 8060 nodes.
We are getting from time to time theser errors:
Event: Nblade.nfsV4PoolExhaust: NFS Store Pool for Client exhausted. Associated object type is CLUSTER_NODE with UUID: qqqqqqq. Message Name: Nblade.nfsV4PoolExhaust Sequence Number: 12361461 Description: This message occurs when one of the NFSv4 store pools is exhausted. Action: If the NFS server is unresponsive for more than 10 minutes after this error occurs, contact NetApp technical support.
It seems, that this error doesn't cause any issues, but I would like to get rid of it. You never know, when it would cause an outage.
As I understand this error correctly, it looks like, that there are no client connections left on that node. Is that correct?
Yes, we have several hundreds of VMs, using several different volumes on this node. On the other node, there are lesser client connections...
What is the best way to debug this?
Thank you very much!
BR Florian
In more recent versions of OnTap, I do a, 'certificate show' and get 112 results. I am familiar with the SVM certs, how to renew, and cert management in general, however, it appears the multitude of other certs (UTN-USERFirst-Hardware, etc.) are for AltaVault and cloud services.
Question: If I don't plan on using AltaVault, what is the consensus on just deleting these certs.
I have 1 lif that is not home and I am unable to revert it back using:
network interface revert -vserver <vserver> -lif <lif-name>
No errors are shown after the command is run, in fact no output at all.
network interface revert * tells me that 1 entries were acted on, however a network interface show -is-home false still shows it as 'Is Home - false'
The lif is Admin - up and Oper - Up.
This issue come up when I was trying to validate an OnTAP upgrade and received the advise Advice:
Ensure that LIFs are on their home node.
