hw_assist error

Hi there,

 

Originally had a few event errors regarding this below.   It had been using some 192.0.x.x that isn't on our list.  I called the person who originally setup our NAS and he made the adjustments but still issue when he tested the node with timed out error.  Do you guys have any idea?

 

Original error:

RPC timed our error while mounting NFS volume

I am getting below RPC timed out error while mounting one NFS volume from NetApp with NFS version 3. While mounting it is switching from TCP to UDP. With NFS version 4 i cannot mount it at all.

Change disk ownership AFF 8040

Hi

I have just installed AFF 8040 with 1DS242C shelf. Cusotmer asks to change the ownership of disks as all the odd disks should go to Node-A and even disks to Node-B. 

Since the cluster is up and running (not data by the way), how can i do this?

SSL Handshake Exception in ontap8.0.1

Hi

 

1. I have Ontap 8.0.1 Simulator which doesn't support TLS and i have enabled SSLv3. While connecting with zedi it throws SSL handshake exception.How to resolve this issue ??

 

2. What should be my java.security file and key size considering my simulator has 512 key size ??

 

3. I am using NMSDK 5.6.

 

4. Also, I have removed SSLv3 from disabledAlgorithms from java.security file.

Looking for some script to scan all the filters for vscan mandatory option set and email periodically. We had outage by setting vscan mandatory option was set to on and user were not able to access the files.

HA Pair 7-Mode takeover

Hi all, I have a system that had a panic and was in takeover, then the Filer that took over crashed (RAM error) So now I have the first filer up but how do i boot it into OnTap when it thinks the partner is running the takeover VM?

 

And If I get it booted what will the other one do when it comes up and tries to boot the VM it was running when it fell over?

I know agood bit about PowerShell but my NetApp knowledge is weak so I apoligize if this is easy.  I have been asked by management to write a script that outputs the following :

 

These would be broken down by cluster.

 

Total storage in TB

Storage used in TB and % used

# of vols and LUNs

 

Then an overall Total TB across all cluster.

Powershell Module DataONTAP

Hey guys,

 

i started some tryouts for MS Powershell scripting. First of all I will give u a short overview about my system configuration:

 

 

ONTAP 9.1P7 on AFF8040

Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 (latest Windows Updates)

NetApp Powershell Toolkit 4.4

Microsoft Powershell 5.1

 

 

I got the following problem. When I try to import the DataONTAP-PS-Module in the Powershell ISE (64-bit), I get this error message:

Import-Module : The specified module 'DataONTAP' was not loaded because no valid module file was found in any module directory.

Copying ONTAP images to Controller

My management are reluctant to allow the use of Mongoose on the network for Ontap upgrades.  This has always been the rock-solid method for me in previous lives.  They are also questioning the need for ANY web server to do upgrades.... they swear the previous admin "downloaded them directly when ready. Why do we need a webserver?"

 

My plan involves going from 8.2x to 9.1.. so it will be two upgrades in succession.


Any advice on how best to get past that step of the upgrade plan is GREATLY appreciated!

Snapmirror with Steelhead WAN Optimizer

Hi, everyone.


In my evironment, i currently have FAS2552 runnning snapmirror over WAN. However,  the transfer time is extremely long, so i think that would like to utilize Riverbed Steelhead to compress snapmirror data.

 

The version of NetApp and Steelhead are as follows,are they supported?

 

Has anyone running Steelhead with clustered Data ONTAP?

Cluster mode upgrade planning for snapmirror (8.3.2P9 > 9.2)

Hi, We have 2 datacenters and one is primary and second one is for DR. We use snapmirror to replicate the data to the DR and both are running 8.3.2P9. We are planning to upgrade the DR cluster first to 9.2 and after 2-3 weeks upgrade the primary to 9.2.

 

Here is the question, during the 2-3 weeks where the DR is at higher level and the DR senerio happens, whether we will be able to reverse resync to primary which is a lower level ?

firewall ports from 7-Mode to Cluster ONTAP snapmirror

I'm trying to figure out the firewall ports to be opened up to snapmirror data from a 7 Mode filer to a Cluster mode filer.

 

I couldn't find any documentation about this configuration.I wouldn't be the first to run into this. So I'm surprised i couldn't find much information on this.

 

From C-Mode ONTAP documentation:

Cluster ONTAP uses  port 11104 to manage intercluster communication sessions and port 11105 to transfer data.

 

From 7-Mode documentation:

SnapMirror source binds on port 10566. The destination storage system contacts the SnapMirror source storage system at port 10566 using any of the available ports assigned by the system. The firewall must allow requests to this port of the SnapMirror source storage system.

 

Over what ports does  the  Intercluster-LIF on C-Mode cluster nodes  communicate with a 7 Mode filer to snapmirror the data.

 

Is there a definitive list of ports to be opened up for snapmirroring from 7-mode to C-DOT filers?

iSCSI Portsets - Adding Interfaces.. disruptive??

I noticed that my portset "PG_iscsi" only has my interfaces for nodes 1-2 of a 4-node cluster.

Would adding the interfaces for nodes 3 and 4 cause any disruption or would this be similar to adding WWPNs to an igroup?

 

The problem is that some of my hosts cannot "see" the LUNs as they are on nodes 3 and 4.

Hi Team,

 

please see Screenshots attached. We already have 2 instances running at this customer but on this Cluster we ran into this issue. Google doesn't know about it but maybe one of you.

Unable to Expand FlexClone LUN

Hello,

 

I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to expand a LUN with a FlexClone Vol. I mirrored the source vol to target a Netapp filer and presented a FlexClone of the mirrored vol to a test server. We are now running into a space issue on the test server and we'd like to expand the drive using SnapDrive, but are unable to. SnapDrive doesn't give us the option to Expand. I assume because it's FlexClone and we'd have to extend the parent volume. Has anybody done this before and if you have could you kindly provide the steps you took.

Scrubbing

I never had to install a V-series or flexarray. So the question never came up only by installing my first flexarray.... The scrubbing process is done only on the native Netapp disks or is it also done on the array LUNs?

XML Error viewing Events

Under Hardware and Diagnostics-->Events.  This occurs on the Cluster management IP (including each node managment IP).  It was working fine last week.  We did pull the chassis of one controller out to test failover yesterday and also configured hwassist.  Error out with Firefox.  IE and Chrome just showed its "Loading".  Also added to the "Trusted Sites".
