I am attempting to set a delay after failed logins but having an issue.
The command I am using is security login role config modify -role admin -delay-after-failed-login XX (where XX = a time)
I get an error that says:
Either specify all keys, or set at least one key to "*"
Not sure what to modify to make this work. I used the tab function at various parts of the command and don't see were to inject some other entries which i assume is all or the *.

Now in existing environment I was created snapmirror relationship mirrored from production site to DR site. After the relationship has been establish, I was been create a snapvault relationship from DR mirrored volume to off site storage for D2D backup after few days.
After the vault relationship snapmirrored, I checked to snapshot copy just only one day can be restore or clone. May I know any way or any method can I synchronize all snapshot copy from mirrored volume. Many thanks.....

I work at a site that doesn't allow for autosupport to send messages to NetApp support. I have setup email alerts internally but am looking for some ideas / suggestions on what to alert on? To start I am looking for alerts for the following occurs:
Drive failure, port goes down / offline, and when a volume is above 90% full.
I realize there additional pieces of software I can buy that will help notify me when these events occur but we have no budget for more software.
I am running ONTAP 9.7p12
In looking at the EMS event catalog 9.7 I believe ""disk.outOfService" and "disk.ioRecoveredError.pfa" should be what I should use for failing/failed disks. Unless someone has a better suggestion?
Does anyone have any suggestions on the exact event I should monitor for ports / hardware offline and volume over 90%?

I'am asking for any suggestion or best practice for my scenario below.
Our customer have an Existing FAS8040 dan 6 DS2246 & 2 DS4246, and we are planning to move those 6 DS2246 + 2 DS4246 to New Controller FAS8300 with 4 DS224C. What is the best step to move all the exisiting Disk Shelf to New Controller without removing all the datas? (except vMotion or anything else because the New Controller capacity are not enough as existing capacity)
also for the information:
Existing FAS8040 Capacity 285TB Running ONTAP 8.3.2
New FAS8300 Capacity 52TB Running ONTAP 9.9.1
Any suggestions/best practice are welcome.

Background: our primary production NetApp cluster is an AFF-A700, and we snapmirror content daily to an offsite FAS8060. Both are currently running OnTAP 9.7P15.
I am looking at potentially upgrading to 9.9.1P5, however I noticed that the 8060s are unable to upgrade beyond 9.8. Based on this, I would prefer to leave the 8060s on 9.7 as the 9.8 System Manager interface has numerous problems.
Main question: how will this affect replication? My understanding is that you can replicate between disparate OnTAP versions as long as the difference is no more than 2 versions. So if the 8060s stay on 9.7, can I upgrade to 9.9.1 and still replicate back to a 9.7 system? Does anyone know if the standards have changed? I wouldn't want to be "stuck" on 9.9.1 in production just because the DR system couldn't be upgraded further. Any thoughts would be helpful! Thanks.

On an AFF unit, using a flexgroup where constituents are spread across both nodes of the controller, are blocs dedupped across all constituents sitting on the same aggregate only or across all constituents across all aggregate? According to this: https://docs.netapp.com/us-en/ontap/flexgroup/enable-storage-efficiency-task.html I would extrapolate to think that data optimization "domain" is still local aggregates only. Am I correct?
In other words, two identical blocs stored in constituents sitting on two different aggregates wouldn't be optimized and stay as is.

We are migrating CIFS shares from an old 7-MODE system to a new CDOT cluster.
Existing 7-MODE system is joined to the domain as XFILES
New CDOT SVM joined to the domain as DENPRDCIFS01
CIFS LIF on new CDOT SVM is 192.168.21.251 (DNS record for DENPRDCIFS01 points to this IP)
We have successfully migrated the shares from the 7-MODE system to the new CDOT system and cut them over. Customer wants to maintain the ability to connect to shares using the XFILES computer name. We have changed the DNS record for XFILES to be a DNS alias pointing at the DNS record for the CIFS LIF on the SVM (DENRPDCIFS01). We have not removed the old 7-mode "XFILES" computer from AD but have added it as a NETBIOS alias on the new CIFS server on the NetApp cluster.
We can browse/connect to the shares on the new cluster using a UNC path with the IP of the CIFS LIF and the DENPRDCIFS01 host name. We can ping the XFILES host name and it resolves correctly to the IP address of the CIFS LIF on the cluster. However, we still cannot browse to the shares at "\\XFILES\" on existing client that previously connected to the 7-MODE system XFILES. We can browse/connect to \\XFILES\ on a new windows client that had never previously connected to XFILES CIFS server on the 7-mode system.
Couple of questions:
1) Is the old "XFILES" AD entry cached somewhere on existing clients which is causing our issues? If so, how do we clear it?
2) Do we need to delete old "XFILES" computer entry from AD to make this work? Customer is hesitant to do this in case we need to fail back to using the 7-MODE system if we cannot get this issue fixed.
3) If we do delete the existing XFILES computer AD entry, can we re-add it easily if we need to fail back to the 7-mode system?

I have an inherited environment where there is a mish mash of load sharing SVM root vol mirrors - some setup and running to some of the nodes, some uniniatilized and some with none at all - set up by my predecessor (who no longer works for the company).
I am trying to bring some order and sense to this, but no one at my current employer can give me a straight answer whether they are needed or not, and I have a case open with NGS, but we seem to be going round in circles, with them just pointing me to documentation that contradicts each other and asking me to delete and re-create the mirrors.
What I would like to establish is if they are even required in the first place - my previous employer had 2 6node clusters and did not use LS mirrors at all. Another ex-colleague also says he does not use them, and they went out with 8.3x (I know volume LS mirrors are deprecated but these are SVM root volume LS mirrors).
In our current environment we are on ONTAP 9.1P9 and have a 12 node cluster and 45 SVMs (yes, really) so following what I can glean to be the best practices for this version we should have a LS per SVM root vol, so that would be approx 45 x 12 = 540 mirrors (which is simply ridiculous). We are working on a plan to get to 9.7 (and then possibly up from that to maybe 9.8 or 9.9) but this will take a few months at least due to hardware swapouts etc.
Can any of the Netapp ninjas out there offer any advice on this ?, what do you do?

When it comes to plex mirroring through syncmirror, I was trying to find the answer for how much of overhead syncmirror takes in general. But it seems there was not a clear mention for that so far.
Would there be anybody here that can answer that question ?

Would someone have an idea about how much of system overhead (cpu, memory including NVRAM) MCC-IP will take compared to a standalone ?
Of course it can vastly be dependent upon the ISL network, but without that put into perspective, meaning it is all optimal, only thinking system overhead taking place just due to the MCC operation, how much more should I assume ?

IHAC who has many Ontap Select mononode clusters in 9.3.x version
We need to upgrade them to Ontap Select 9.8Px.
As we cannot run Update Advisor I don't know which updates steps I need to do .
I don't find this kind of information in releases notes.
Do I have to:
- upgrade from Ontap Select 9.3 to OS 9.5 , then change the vm network adapters type from e1000 to vmxnet3
-upgrade from OS9.5 to OS9.7
-upgrade from OS9.7 to OS 9.8
As he uses Ontap Select Deploy 9.5, I then have to upgrade it to a more recent OSDeploy to.
