what's remote disk naming rule in the MetroCluster IP?

$

Remote disk is named as "0m.i1.5L82" in the output of  the command "sysconfig -r",  what does the fields of " 0m.i1.5L82" mean?  Can we identify a disk location by these fields of " 0m.i1.5L82"?  I found the disk naming rule of MetroCluster FC, but not one of  MetroCluster IP.  I look forward to your help, thanks.

the output of "sysconfig -r" is as follow:

Multiprotocol Access Troubleshooting

We have configured a volume on a dedicated SVM and are making this accessible via CIFS and NFS.

The CIFS access is working as we'd expect but we are having issues with the NFS access from a RedHat Enterprise Linux server (RHEL 7.9)

Users are logging into the RHEL server using Active Directory credentials and can successfully mount / access the files in the volume but ONLY when we add EVERYONE to the ACL.

When we try and create a file from the Linux server (using touch) we get "Permission denied"

We have configured LDAP on the SVM and believe it to be functional but name resolution does not seem to be working correctly.

AD Forest Functional Level and Domain Func Level are 2016
Clustered OnTAP version is 9.9.1

Anyone able to assist with best steps to troubleshoot this?

I will attach a file showing steps taken so far and relevant output / configuration

Advanced disk partitioning

One of the disks failed which was part of the ADP's partition on an aggregate.

The partition got replaced, but we never saw hot spare in the system at all. After replacing the disk we see the disk as a hot spare and it did not get partitioned.

Now should I manually partition the disk so that it can go to the spare partition ? or leave it in case of a failure the disk will be pulled in and a partition will be created later on ?

CLI comparing values

Hello everyone,
it is possible to list the volumes that it's -percent-used value is greater than -space-nearly-full-threshold-percent value?
As far as I know extended query will not be suitable to solve this question.

This could we great, but is not working for me:
vol show -percent-used > -space-nearly-full-threshold-percent
Error: The expression is missing a value

Thank you much,
Guille.

Is this name the same (same product) as Active IQ Unified Manager for Linux?  Did it get replaced? Trying to decide if the version is affected by the log4j.

We are on an old version 7.2p1.

Hi NetApp,

Could you provide more clarity on the list of 'Affected Products' mentioned in the log4j advisory.

My query is specifically for 'Virtual Storage Console'. In the following weblink, it mentions 'ONTAP Tools for VMware vSphere' as affected product, which is a new name for VSC from 9.8 onwards. VSC's last version is 9.7.x.

Does this vulnerability only applies to 'ONTAP Tools for VMware vSphere' (which is 9.8 onwards) ?

Hi,

I'm using Active IQ Unified Manager and trying to setup some reports. How to use filter to see volume capacity of two SVM's: svmA and svmB ? It looks like I'm able to filter svmA or svmB but I need both.

Possibility of "importing" stranded-foreign aggregates from ADP-RD2 to a new system

$

Hello people

I am here asking whether it is doable what i am going to explain.

Customer has a AFF-A300 system with just one disk shelf DS224C with ADP-RD2 deployed.

Due to the size of current root-partitions, it is not possible to make a Hardware controller upgrade using ARL (Aggregate ReLocation).

So, my thinking is to sell a new AFF-A700 with only 6 new SSD for both new root aggregates (aimed for both nodes).

And after that, take the disk shelf DS224C that is connected to AFF-A300 two nodes, and hook it up to this AFF-A700.

And after that, in maintenance mode, discover the 24SSDs units from DS224C, assign the partitions accordingly to A700 nodes, and import them (data aggregates) assuming they are in foreign status (or similar).

In reality, i don't care much about old root partitions; what i do mind is the data-partitions because  i dont want losing information (luns/vols).

is my thought doable in ONTAP9.9.1?

it has been many years back since i dont issue CLI commands. So, i prefer asking first how doable is my plan of actions.

Thanks in advance

Deleting a vserver's object in active directory + recreating it

$

Hi

We've been trying to start the process of migration our vservers to the cloud. We started by deleting the active directory object for our one of our vservers, but doing that predictably prevented us from accessing the vserver again. Is there are a way to restore the active directory object again? I know that deleting and recreating the cifs server for that vserver will help, but doing that ends up forcing us to delete our shares in the process. Is there no other way around it?

Anyone have a handle on ONTAP Adaptive and fixed QOS policies?

$

Trying to figure out the best way forward from a quagmire I'm in.  I need to figure out the following:

  1. Adaptive QOS, or
  2. Fixed QOS

NSLM did a great job of messing up my migration to FlexGroups from FlexVols, by making FlexVols the high priority

I need to figure out a way to reset, and start the arduous process of incrementally decreasing the FlexVol priorities and increasing the FlexGroup priorities, in order to get my users to migrate.  (The obviously do not want to do it now, because FG's are three times as slow).

Last time I tried something, I set my binary volumes to such a low priority, Matlab took twenty minutes to start.  ;(

Any issues to start to use a “broken volume “ at the destination?

$

The source-volume S have been snapmirrored and the Destination volume is "D". Now, after the snapmirror relationship got broken off(the relationship has not been deleted), D becomes RW.

At this point, i believe volume "S", and volume "D" are two separated volumes.

My question:

1.   will "D" has any performance impact on the source storage?
2.   Will it cause any issues to use D in the status of "broken-off"?
3.   If the source volume has multiple SM relationships, then how much performance impact will multiple replications have on the source storage?

How can I collect OnTap configuration information more easily?

Hello everyone,

I need to collect the information of about 30 nodes with the following command every day,Now my practice is to input commands one by one. I don't know what batch processing method is, or there are scripts that can execute the following commands in batch. The tool I use is SecureCRT. I hope I can get help!

system node run -node * -command sysconfig -ca
system node run -node * -command sysconfig -v
system node run -node * -command sysconfig -a

Hello,

Does anyone know how to set password for "vserver cifs users-and-groups local-user set-password" from a (shell-)script?

I need to (re)set a lot of password words from (local) CIFS users.

At 7-mode is was "vfiler run ${VFILER} useradmin user modify ${USERNAME} -p ${NEWPWD}"

Thanks.

NFS Storage vMotions are taking hours

$

I am working with a pre-existing Netapp/VMware environment and I am trying to troubleshoot why Storage vMotions are taking hours for vm's only 30gb in size. It does not appear to be a network issue as vm's are able to move between iSCSI volumes within minutes. It is only the NFS Datastores that have this issue. All of the ESXi hosts are 7.0.3 and we are using a series of AFF-A400 Storage Devices.

For example, we have a storage vm which has been allocated 5tb but due to thin provisioning is only actually using 28.38gb of storage space. This vm takes typically 3.5 hours to Storage vMotion between NFS datastores. The same vm can Storage vMotion between two iSCSI volumes in a matter of minutes.  I'm running out of things to test/try. I've checked the basics like the Session Slot table settings and the TCP Maximum Transfer Size. And the NetApp VAAI Plugin is installed on all of the ESXi hosts.

My current hope is that there is something misconfigured on the vserver in regards to NFS. I ran a vserver nfs show -instance command and have pasted the results below. I am hoping that something here may jump out to someone that would help explain why Storage vMotions are taking so extraordinarily long.

Command ran - "vserver nfs show -instance -vserver vsphere02"

How to test 7-mode ONTAP storage connectivity between the SNMP server

$

0

I need to periodically test the connectivity between the ONTAP storage and the SNMP server,For cmode storage, I use a - : : * > event generate message - a name monitor. Volume. NearlyFull - values Test, test, test, test, test, test command, the client agrees to can test during the day,But for 7-mode, I don't know if there's an equivalent command,So each time I create a volume and then delete the volume,So each time I create a volume and then delete the volume, which the client is only allowed to do at night.

I was wondering if there was an equivalent command, junt like event generate in cmode.

If there is no equivalent command, whether there is a read-only operation in 7mode can generate an event.

                   Looking forward to your reply

High Cache Miss Ratio on a volume in Active IQ UM

$
0
0

We have experienced a performance issue on a workload mostly read. What we can see the problem might be with High Cache miss Ratio in Active IQ UM on a volume involved. As attached graph, we can see the ratio at 70% in avg when the job was running. In addition, there were also a couple of it's clones were running read as well around the same time.

With this high ratio, could it be the cause of the slowness? What the solution could be?

Thanks in advance for your advice.
