When I attempt to update OnTap, only 1 node shows.

FAS8300 running 9.12.1p10.

Looking at the Dashboard in System Manager, both nodes show up and are named correctly.  If I hover over them, both serial numbers show up and are correct.  The cluster is healthy.

When I go to Cluster => Overview, both nodes show up and their names and serials are correct.

When I go to Cluster => More => ONTAP Update, only one node shows up.

I can hit the drop down arrow and it displays the usual stuff about the previous update being successful and how long it took.

Using the CLI I can run a "vserver show" command and both nodes show up.

Everything that I can find says that the nodes and cluster are/is "healthy".

Does anyone know why only one node shows up in the when I try to do an OnTap upgrade?  I poked around the NetApp bugs page but didn't find one that addresses this issue.

Thank you.

All SSD aggregate on FAS2720

Is it possible to create an aggregate with all SSD disks on an FAS2720?

We have a FAS2720 with 12x4TB NL-SAS internal disks. And we would like to add an external shelf with 12x3.84 SSD to create an all SSD aggregate. We would like to know if this is possible.

If we do a simulation in Fusion we can create it without problems. But we had a doubt when we saw this information in the document "FAS2700-Tech-FAQ-v1.1.1" where it literally says this:

"Are all-SSD configurations supported with the FAS2720?
Answer: No. All-SSD configurations are not supported on the FAS2720. Only hybrid configurations leveraging SSDs for Flash Pool are supported."

Thank you!

How to proceed with FAS8020 metrocluster separation if one of them is already disconnected

$

Hello community,

I'd like to ask you. There are two FAS8020 systems with one controller each and also located each in separate locations. Originally the systems worked in metrocluster mode but we would like to divide them to one of them would work in standalone mode. The issue is that the second one is already decommissioned so not sure if it's even possible to do that. We tried to scratch the first system according to recommended procedure "from boot menu" proceed with "wipeconfig" and also "clean configuration and initialize all disks" (option 4), but the system is unable to probably do that and some configuration is still there especially configuration for Service processor and so on. According to the procedure above we are not able to start "initial setup wizard" for network configuration and so on. Could you please provide us with a hint how to properly proceed to divide two FAS8020 systems if one of them is already disconnected?

FAS2650

9.7 P22

We have had this unit for almost 7 years. Today one of the two spares failed. There are two aggregates in this unit.

Raid-tec (1st aggregate)
Raid-dp (2nd aggregate)

Question, if a drive other than the non spare failed, would the system automatically take the spare and replaced it with the failed?

Second, when the new part is sent to you, can we replace it ourselves? I was told we have support for onsite replacement. First time dealing with hardware replacement in 7 years (knock on wood).

Hi,

Does someone have a basic process/procedure to go through where a client from a Window/Linux machine cannot contact the nfs/CFS shares due to a probably network issue? I tend to get confused with all the different IP in play across this scenario.

many thanks

hi to all

a project for a customer, the new system will be E5700 with Disk shelf DE460C with 4tb sata disks.

And later on we will add old disk shelves to the above system ,the old shelves are DE6600 with 4tb and 1.2tb disks .

We plan to hot add the old shelves later on, the speeds of IOMs are different.

In normal Ontap environment, this is supported, but i dont know what will be in the Eseries environment.

any experience something similar to this one

I messed up assigning owner to one of the newly added disks (ONTAP 9.5P6, AFF A200). Possible fix?

I added 6x 960 GB SSDs to increase capacity of out AFF A200. When assigning owner to one of the disks, I might have misclicked or made some other mistake, because one of the disks shows Container type as Aggregate with name aggr0(1). When I try to click on it in GUI it takes me nowhere. New disks are 1.0.12 to 1.0.17. Is there any way to fix this?

How ONTAP Tools was configured when installed

Hi,

I have an ONTAP Tools that was configured by an external company. This company is no longer working for us, and as a result, they don't want to provide us with any information regarding the ONTAP Tools configuration made by them.

The issue is that I need to upgrade the ONTAP tools version to upgrade our VCSA from 7.0 to 8.0, as the ONTAP tools version installed, 9.10, is not compatible with VCSA 8.0.

What I need to know is the storage system was added with custom created cluster scoped user or the storage system was added with custom created SVM scoped user. How could I see it?

PowerShell Toolkit 9.1x .x very slow, timing out and missing results

$

We have been using the 4.5.0 version of the PS toolkit for many years. I am in the process of migrating to the later versions. I am running into issues with simple commands like:

Get-NcSnapshot -Volume $VolumeName

Old Toolkit will return results instantly and have the full list of results. New versions I have tested all timeout or return 1-3 of the total 45 snapshots and can take a long time. If I use the -ZapiCall parameter on the connect-nccontroller cmdlet, the results are fast and complete as with 4.5.0.

The account used to connect is in the admin role and have tested version 9.12.1.2302 and 9.14.1.2401 of the toolkit.

The same performance penalty is seen with other commands making my scripts unusable.

Any ideas on what I am missing?

Hello. We have various NetApp Storages at three sites. Models AFF-C250s and FAS2720 as well. Now, the question has come up to provide improvements, enhancements and some real value out of them. The frames are all working fine.  Any suggestions, what and where to look at to provide some real unique value, and how then it will solve customer problems. Where to start etc.  Anything basic improvements we can do and then show quickly, to start with. Thanks

Copy ONTAP image or SP/Disk firmware on FAS or AFF system(for Upgrade) without HTTP/FTP server

NetApp SnapMirrors in PRTG Network Monitor

$

Does anyone have any experience with monitoring the NetApp through PRTG? The technical support ticket I have with PRTG has been slow and hit/miss as they gather logs and pull in resources, so I figured I'd try this community to see if someone has crossed this before...

  • Current infrastructure is a NetApp cluster running on version 9.12.1P2., all nodes are FAS2750's.
  • I have a user account setup in ONTAP, assigned to the 'Admin' role, as well as HTTP, ONTAPI, and console using passwords. This account is used in PRTG to authenticate against the NetApp, to pull in device's and sensors.

Curiously enough, I can add-in the sensors for the Lif, volumes, system health, etc. without any problems. However, I am seeing inconsistencies with the Snap Mirror sensor. The sensor finds the Snap Mirrors, and can tell me the health, lag, mirror state, but the transfer status  remains 'unknown.'

Lookin through Protection > Relationships, the transfer status is in-sync. Nothing seems to be broken from the NetApp side of Snap Mirroring...

Any thoughts welcome here!
