when i am trying to create new lun i got error related no space, after that i am not able
to see luns list in ontap system manager, in cli when i use 'lun show' i got output
like this 'the lun inventory was not available for the following volumes Reason: Hit the queue threshold flushing new entries'
how to make it available all the luns. what steps do I need to take.

We tested it with the Set NFSv4 on ONTAP 9 using a local file method, and all users other than the user-mapped users are connected to the volume.
Do I really need ldap to use nfsv4?

I explain my case: We have to migrate a SQL cluster environment to new servers and new netapp (previous storage also netapp). We have made SnapMirror for Mon RDM (4 Mon). We see that you have copied everything exactly the same, but what changes is the serial number of the lun and the ID.
Steps:
We stop CLuster SQL.
We turn off the 2 VMs.
We disconnect the RDM disks from the 2 VMs.
We update and break snapmirror.
We present the new LUNs to the new servers.
We migrate the machines to the new servers and storage.
We edit the configuration and add the RDM disks exactly the same (only to the first VM).
We turn on the VM and find that the cluster does not start. In the disk manager the disks appear in "offline" mode and it does not allow us to put it online, because it says that the failover cluster is managing it.
In the failover cluster the disks appear disconnected and if we connect them there is an error.
Any ideas? Should the LUN ID be the same as the source ID?

Running NetApp AFF C250 with SSD drives as a backup target. Volume is connected to Windows 2022 server via iSCSI.

I have deleted around 10TB from that volume, using Windows Explorer.
System Manager and CLI still show that volume has 8TB of data and dedup+compression metadata.
When it will be deleted and how can I avoid it in the future?

Are there any plans to provide a way to combine the constituents of a flexgroup into a flexvol?
At this time I am told you have to actually copy the data and this would require the source volume to be read only during the transfer and that is not practical. Or use an external tool.

We want to convert our AD authentication to use start_tls.

I assume this process is disruptive to CIFS connections as it involves changing domain authentication but I cant seem to find anywhere concrete that says it is or not. So does anyone know if it is or is not?

I create a fpolicy to limited a volume can be store .txt file
I use this command
First I create a event
filer>vserver fpolicy policy event create -vserver fpsvm1 -event-name event1 -file-operations create,write,rename -protocol cifs
Than I create a policy
filer>vserver fpolicy policy create -vserver fpsvm1 -policy-name policy1 -events event1 -engine native -is-mandatory true -allow-privileged-access no -is-passthrough-read-enabled false
And I create a scope
filer>vserver fpolicy policy scope create -vserver fpsvm1 -policy-name policy1 -file-extensions-to-exclude txt -volumes-to-include vol1
finially I enable the policy
filer>vserver fpolicy enable -vserver fpsvm1 -policy-name policy1 -sequence-number 1
but I found the volume still can store any file

there is a FAS2720 with a external disk shelf DS212C, and the disks inside the controller is partitioned, but the disks in external disk shelf is non-partitioned. all of 12 disks in external disk shelf is used to create a data aggr, no spare disk is reserved(Ontap generates "Spares_Low" Error, because there are only partitioned spares, no whole spare disk) . There are many data in the data aggr, and it's not possible to delete aggr and then recreate. I wonder whether auto-partition of internal disks can be disabled, that is, after assigned, the internal spare is still non-partitioned. if this is the case, whether can the data aggr that is comprised of the external disks share the spare disk in the internal controller chassis?

Do we have any customer using third party solution or netapp have road map to include entra id supported for cifs user authentication in fsx ontap.
I have a scenario that my ZTE don't want us to use traditional domain user authentication front endpoint users to access cifs shares and our identity strategy is to get server less domain Services preferring Entra id only. Most of our work loads in aws.
Any recommendations that meet the requirements

I create an audit using this command
vserver audit create -vserver fpsvm1 -destination /vol1/audit_log -events file-ops,cifs-logon-logoff -format evtx -rotate-size 100MB -rotate-limit 0
vserver audit enable -vserver fpsvm1
but when I try to modify and delete the file in share,
I can't see any record
Is the auditing full that I want?
we are currently using Rubrik CDM and snapdiff for NAS backups. according to NetApp, the snapdiff will not be supported after version 8.17. Rubrik is pushing us to a different backup solution of NAS cloud direct for NAS backups, but this is a duplicated investment and a lot of data movement.
does anyone have more details about NetApp snapdiff support?
looks if we lost snapdiff, the NAS backup on Rubrik CDM will still work, but on some shares which have multi millions files, the indexing and metascan will take hours to complete, it is causing user access issue to the shares.
Please share the information or workaround if you have.

HI. I want to document how to upgrade my appliances. I have an AFF220 and FAS2750. Both are at ONTAP 9.9.1.
I would like to use the Simulate ONTAP virtual appliances to test and document the upgrade to 9.14.1 using the ONTAP manager. When I try to upload the upgrade packages I get an error saying "Internal Error: There is not sufficient space in the file upload directory to upload this file. Contact technical support for assistance."
This technote does not help as the resize fails:

Hi All,
I created new SVM with root volume and data volumes with UNIX security style. While creating the volumes, the requirement was limited to NFS access only. Now the new requirement requires CIFS access too. I have a volume lets say volume_nfs, under that there is a qtree lets say volume_nfs_qtree. Security style for both volume and qtree is UNIX. There are no other file or folder under volume volume_nfs except volume_nfs_qtree. Currently only NFS export is configured on this volume.
Now I am thinking to change security style of qtree volume_nfs_qtree to mixed from UNIX and I will keep security style of volume volume_nfs unchanged.
Is that a right approach? I am worried what if it changes file permissions and application starts seeing issues with the file access. Please advice on this.

For example we have 9.12.1P7 installed and i want to know details about 'P7' such as release date, fixes etc? I then also want to see all the available patches 'P8, P9' etc and the fixes they offer, date of release for each 'P#' etc

We have a NetApp integrated to VMware with ONTAP tools for VMware so provision datastores with ONTAP Tools for VMware. When doing this, the LUN and Volume are auto created and as part of that:
1. The tick box in Volume for "Resize Automatically" is auto selected and enabled
2. The tick box in LUN for "Protection>Enable Snapshot Copies Local" is ticked and selected.
Is there a way to configure the array so that any new Volumes have "Resize Automatically" disabled and LUN "Protection>Enable Snapshot Copies Local" disabled?
Or is the only way to create these via GUI and uncheck etc or via CLI/automation so these preferences are set that way?
