Hi all,
IHAC met a weird performance issue with XFS:
Any thoughts and suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Morning all,
I'm having a strange issue where if we create an explicit user quota that increases a users quota over the default quota, the quota report screen in the WebUI and results returned via Powershell do not match up.
For example, we have volumes for home directories, by default there is a 2gb quota for all users on the volume. They only have access to their own folder so there is no risk of them placing files anywhere but their own folder. If the user uses all of their 2GB we then create an explicit quota giving them more.
When we do this we then perform a resize of the quota on that volume, the quota report screen still shows them as having a hard limit of 2gb rather than the limit we set on the explicit quota(4gb). If i then look at the rules tab it shows the new explicit quota. Even the Powershell commands return this same information.
Anyone come across this before? I have attached images to show this.

I'm trying to change the volume efficiency policy for a volume. When I do this, it appears to work (as in, it returns some volume info and no errors):
C:\scripts > Set-NcSis -VserverContext cifs -Name vol_test -Policy auto-20%-changelog-threshold
Name State TotalSize Used Available Dedupe Aggregate Vserver
---- ----- --------- ---- --------- ------ --------- -------
vol_test online 50.0 GB 47.5 GB aggr1 cifs
C:\scripts >
However, when I check it on the NetApp CLI, nothing has changed:
clus1::> sis show -fields policy -volume vol_test
vserver volume policy
------- ----- --------
cifs vol_test -
I see the same behavior if I do it this way:
C:\scripts > Get-NcVol vol_test | Set-NcSis -Policy auto-20%-changelog-threshold
Am I doing something wrong, or does 'Set-NcSis' just not work properly in the NetApp.ONTAP PowerShell module? (I'm using the latest version: 9.15.1.2407.)
Hi,
I need to design a solution where production site is running on NetApp CVO and hosting only CIFS and NFS shares and replicating to DR site. Currently the data is not immutable. Following options were suggested to make data immutable:
1. Configure a backup solution at production site, backup the data on AWS S3 bucket and replicate to DR.
2. Configure an immutable S3 bucket at production, dump data there and replicate to DR.
3. Configure NetApp cloud backup to make data immutable.
In all the above cases, we have challenges to restore data at DR site once it is replicated. Data replicated using backup solution can be read only by the same backup solution, so how can it be restored on DR NetApp CVO?
If client configures immutable S3 bucket and replicates, how can that data be restored from DR site S3 to NetApp CVO?
Is there any way to replicated immutable CIFS and NFS data on AWS S3 using NetApp CVO and restore at the DR site?
Hi,
Wanted to check if the below any of the HBA card is having compatibility to connect with E2812 model for LUNs presentation on HPE Server DL80 gen9.

Previously we had another box of FAS2750 running on 9.11.1 where we migrate older 7-mode data using snapmirror TDP. It was so good to have.
Now we have another new box FAS2820 - ontap 9.13. We need to migrate another old filer FAS2220 ontap 8.1.4 almost 80TBs of data to the new box. This filer has hundreds of millions of files from our engineering test log.
We notice snapmirror TDP is no longer supported. Is there any replacement for it?
XCP from Netapp, we have to setup new box on Linux and Windows and lot of other setup here and there. This is very troublesome and to migrate hundreds of millions of files is a big problem. We cannot afford long downtime. And we cannot place NFS export into read only as data is going to access read+write.
Any advised of better way to migrate the 80TBs from FAS2220 ontap 8.1.4 7 mode to FAS2
Is there a function to check cold data and hot data in units of directory and file?
We have an Ontap Select cluster that is monitored via AIQUM. The cluster contains Snaplock volumes (Enterprise). The same message appears in the audit log every 15 minutes for each of the Snaplock volumes.

Is there a way to deactivate the messages? The audit logs are written to a syslog server, which fills up pretty quickly.
I have already tried making adjustments to the security audit settings, but that didn't help.
Hi,
i'm wondering about this feature. A customer informed me that he got a "critical" info about a BMC update:
SU555: [Impact: CRITICAL] BMC firmware 15.11 increases stability - NetApp Knowledge Base
The storage is configured to automatically update the BMC, so why is this "critical" update not provided that way?
ONTAP has a feature to solve a critial bug but it will not be used... Confusing...
Has someone more informations regarding this topic?
Kind regards
Stefan
Might be a long shot, but I have a customer who is trying to migrate off of a 7-mode system to a 3rd party NAS device using StorageX. Most of the shares have been migrated successfully, but 1 remains and keeps throwing read errors within StorageX. There appears to be a ADS (alternate data stream) issue that may be related to Veritas since the files in question seem to map back to Veritas.
Troubleshooting hasn't really gone anywhere since most 7-mode stuff in online searches points me to c-dot, but some of the stuff I have found point to either fpolicy or vscan. vscan is disabled and fpolicy is still just running the default. No specific fpolicy policy is configured. We've tried to talk the customer into disabling fpolicy, but they are reluctant to not cause any other issues.
My suggestion has been to either disable fpolicy or delete the files in question. I've also had to re-up my 7-mode knowledge since I haven't had to use it in several years.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can also try to provide additional info.
Thanks!
Hello everyone,
I would like to know if it is possible to update ONTAP on one of the nodes via the command line in Maintenance Mode.
One of the cluster nodes is running version 9.10.1P11 and the other is running version 9.13.1P9 and I need both to be running the same version.
Thank you
Hello,
We have a FAS2650 and a FAS8300 (just joined onto the cluster several days ago). 28 of 32 volumes have been moved to the new unit. The professional service person told us he would return next Friday to do some clean up of the old FAS2650.
I noticed a non-compliant warning regarding the licenses this morning. Would this warning cause any issues to services (so far haven't witnessed any)? Trying to get a hold of the professional services but couldn't (he is probably flying).
Also running "system license show" only return licensing for our FAS2650.

If you vol move a 100TB volume, the first transfer will have a transfer rate of about 160MB/s, but if you try to manually cut over, the transfer rate will be 1MB/s and won't switch after 5 or 6 hours.
Has anyone had this experience?
This volume is deduplicated and was manually deduplicated before being disabled.
100TB volumes that have never been deduplicated will not experience an incident.
Thank you and best regards.
Hello, I have to resize about 400 flexvols, having partially deleted old data.
My target is to resize exactly to 97% of used space.
Having done the job before on few volumes I used to resize it manually.
Now I'm trying to autoresize volumes using volume options
space-nearly-full-threshold-percent
space-full-threshold-percent
autosize-grow-threshold-percent
autosize-shrink-threshold-percent
but I can't get the volume autosized.
Maybe I specified wrong values for the above options, can you help me on how to set them to achieve the 97% of used space?
Thank you,
Fabrizio

I am thinking to look for a powercli command that does this and then prepare a long list of the command for each volume, using Excel and notepad. And then copy the commands in 10 at the time?
also need to delete hundreds of old snapshots in those volumes. How can I do this? Is there a time switch I can use with a powershell command that lets me delete all snapshots older than 4 weeks for instance?
How do check SAN switch formware version compatibality when we are upgrading ONTAp version
