Hello everyone, the client here is mounted to Linux via the iSCSI service. What command can be used to view the detailed path of the mount on Linux, not df -h?

Ontap configuration maximums for Ontap

I'm sure this is probably published somewhere but I cant seem to find it via google so I am hoping someone here can help me with this question.

I'm trying to find a doc or tool on the NetApp site that lists all the configuration maximum limits for Ontap (preferably by version).  Does such a web page or doc exist?

Thanks... M

No Daily or Weekly snapshots availabe on the destination

I recently created three Storage VMs for disaster recovery (DR) and applied the Asynchronous protection policy. On two of the SVM DRs, I can only see hourly snapshots, kept for 1 hour, but no daily or weekly snapshots. However, my test SVM DR shows hourly and daily snapshots retained for 7 days.

I'm unsure why the daily and weekly snapshots are not appearing for those two SVM DRs. Has anyone else encountered this issue? I’d appreciate any insights into what might be causing this.

Customer is asking the following :

Is this possible to restore a data that has been saved with ONTAP 9.11.1P11 via NDMP to a FAS2552 running 8.2.5P5?

Could you help us to confirm this to customer?

Multi-admin verify and ssh key-based authentication

$

We typically use ssh key-based authentication in our environment for the increased security over password auth. I'm looking into setting up Multi-admin verification for things like volume deletes. However in testing, I noticed that any admin can change any others' public keys, and therefore log in as any other MAV admin.

By default, MAV creates a rule to restrict "security login password", but not to restrict "security login publickey", and you can't add such a rule either:

> security multi-admin-verify rule create -operation "security login publickey" -query "-multi-admin-approver true -different-user true" Error: command failed: Operation "security login publickey" is not supported by this feature.

This seems like a huge hole, or am I misunderstanding something here?

mariadb container does not start mariabdb service while dockerhost have a public ip, everything else looks good. The volume is visible the volume is mapped into the container to /var/lib/mysql. Data is accessible. Rights are correct. Volume is read write.
the container is running only the mariadb service doenst come up. Changing the dokerhost IP back to internal ip
the mariadb service starts without any issues.

Hello.
I have a FAS8040, and I plan to upgrade its ontap version from 9.1 to 9.3, but there is a read/write volume in the system with 2TB space and 614KB free space, and the usage space is 99%. This volume will not grow, can I upgrade it? Or do I need to expand it, how much is appropriate to expand it?

Delete snapshots via bash and ssh

I am trying to delete close to a hundred snapshots left over from a migration using SVM-DR.

I have built a file called snaplist that contains:
vserver volume snapshot

Then i run a while loop to go through the file:

while read vserv vol snap

do
ssh -n admin@cluster "set adv -c off ; volume snapshot delete -vserver $vserv -volume $vol -snapshot $snap -force true"; sleep 3; done < snaplist

I get this error when io try to run it:

" is an invalid value for field "-foreground <true|false>"
Valid choices in this command's context: true, false
" for parameter "-foreground". A future release may
require "-foreground" to be specified before the value.

I can't seem to figure where that's coming from! I'm sure it's something stupid I'm missing!

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Folks,

Anyone has recommendations Azure AD DS joined SVM ( to serv CIFS /SMB and NFS) , I don't see any KB that says it works or supported yet.

Given most customers looks for Hybrid Identity ( Entra ID and Azure AD DS ) do NetApp Plan to Support Azure AD DS joined SVM? ,  I have scenario that  we are looking to implement Hybrid Identity ( Azure AD DS sync with Entra ID ) to Let Entra ID users to get Kerberos tickets for Accessing SMB shares from the SVM which is joined with Azure AD DS

Any suggestions or recommendations , I have NetApp AFF220 model and looking to refresh with latest model available if NetApp Support the Scenario or find a solution that fits.

Thanks

SAS-connect

Hello.
After upgrading ontap version of a FAS2554 storage from 9.1 to 9.3, I found that the status of SAS-connect_cluster was degraded and the status of SAS-connect was ok by using "system health alert show". However, I do not find any exception after checking the SAS link. What is the cause of this problem?

Cluster join failure and storage failover show the status of "Kernel loaded."

Hi:

I had two very frustrating experiences today and I need some help:

 1. Today I performed initial setup on both ends and prepared to create a cluster, but I found that one node would not join in despite my efforts. Just as I was about to give up, it suddenly joined successfully. Why is that? My system version is 9.14.1p16, and my device is a FAS2720.

2.Five minutes after the cluster is successfully created, I check the storage failover show and find that the status of controller A is kernel loaded. Finally, I check that the status of controller A is abnormal. The content of the error is like this:Waiting for giveback...(Press Ctrl-C to abort wait)
Waiting for giveback...(Press Ctrl-C to abort wait)Entering FM state:5 because mbFound:0 local in headswap:0
Entering FM state:5 because mbFound:0 local in headswap:0
Entering FM state:5 because mbFound:0 local in headswap:0

What should I do in this situation?

 Thank you !

Wish you a happy life

autosupport

Hello.
I tried to obtain autosupport logs manually on the storage of one machine, but when I verified it, I found that it was in a queued state. I used "job show" to check and found that the queue was congested. I wanted to try to delete the tasks queued before this one, but I found that there were a large number of them. How will this affect my storage?
(My storage model is FAS2554 and version 8.3 C-mode)

Aloha.  I'm running NetApps on the DoD network and am looking to implement the SnapCenter plugin for VMware vSphere, but I need to identify and apply applicable STIGs or SRGs to the appliance.  What STIGs have you implemented on your SnapCenter Plug-in for VMware vSphere appliances to meet security configuration requirements?  Mahalo for your assistance.

StorageGRID S3 bucket - checksum algorithm for upload?

$

Dear community,

so far we have ‘only’ used StorageGRID as a FabricPool. The first tests with S3 buckets are now ongoing. The question has now arisen as to whether checksum algorithms can or must be used for uploading objects to S3. If so, which ones are used (‘CRC32’, ‘CRC32C’, ‘SHA1’, ‘SHA256’)?

Unfortunately, I have not found any information on this in the standard documentation; when tenants/buckets are created, no such information is requested or offered.

Any tips?
Many thanks and best regards

Michael

Failed to add license on FAS3220 since license grace period active.

Hi, here's a multi-path HA system with 2 FAS3220 (NetApp Release 8.2P4 7-Mode), both of them with permanent licenses.

Around half year ago, we replaced the malfunction controller (netapp2) with the controller without license (SN: aaaaaaaaaaaa) and active grace period.

Now we replace netapp2 again since grace period was expired and we can't access to the disks owned by it.

The new installed netapp2 with permanent licenses(SN: bbbbbbbbbbbb), but it shows warning below once we checking license.

Warning: License grace period active. Showing entries associated with the original system serial number

Original Serial Number: aaaaaaaaaaaa (1st replaced netapp2 without license)

Owner: Netapp2

No license are installed

We've check sysconfig, the serial number was updated as bbbbbbbbbbbb(2nd replaced netapp2 with licenses), netapp2 was ready for giveback and we did it.

Then we tried to add license "license add [License Key]" but failed since serial number is not belong to the node.

We totally have no clue about what to do next, any suggestions are welcome and appreciated🙂.

I plan to upgrade several sets of device versions from 9.1 to 9.8. Do I need to consider upgrading the microcode and IOM of the disk during the upgrade process? My equipment models are FAS8040 and FAS2554
